Staying in Trastevere with Kids, Rome, Italy

There is only so much research one can do from one's laptop far far away from your destination.  You can google search all you want and check walking distances to and from spots and spend hours scouring blogs and forums. This is what we found ourselves doing when searching for the perfect place to be our home-base while staying in Rome. Im writing this post to save you time and energy. Find yourselves a place in Trastevere, not in the bar hopping center, but along the edges.

In this neighborhood there is plenty to do and see and you are far away from and close enough to all of the Roman action.

After being here for almost a week we have found that all of our research is paying off. We have walked comfortably to Piazza Navona, the Colosseum, Piazza Venezia, and explored the Tevere Riverwalk. Along the way we have found several parks, plazas and playgrounds to give little feet a break or a chance to burn off some energy.  If walking isn't your thing this area has great public transportation to get you right to all of the main attractions. Similarly, the area has a variety of groceries stores scattered about so getting snacks and food for meals is easy.

It goes without saying Trastevere is the heart of Roman night life, offering up a cornucopia of bars, restaurants, and gelato spots.
