From Cacao to Cocoa

Last month Shnook (6 yr old) decided to study chocolate as his monthly
topic. Needless to say I was very pleased. We read about the history
of chocolate talked about chocolate and yes it had to be done, we ate
and ate chocolate. I found a site selling some raw beans online and
tonight we make our own cocoa straight from the bean.
It is a very simple, fun hands on activity that will leave your home
smelling delicious.
Directions
Step 1. Get some beans :) I got mine front this site and they are very
cheap Www.amazonasimports.com

Step 2. Roast beans. We roasted ours in the oven at 350 F for 20 minutes

Step 3. Peel the husk off

Step4. Add some flavor. Here is where you can let your imagination run
wild. Add whatever you think will taste great. We added cinnamon and
brown sugar. Note you have to add sugar, cacao beans are not sweet

Step 5. Get your grind on :) grind all the ingredients together into
a nice powder.

Step 6. Add 1tbsp to a cup of hot water/milk/rice dream top with
marshmallows and
Step 7. Enjoy
Shnook enjoying his cocoa
